In the attainment of its Vision 2020 Development Plan, Government has identified one of its goals as the transformation of Trinidad and Tobago into an inter-connected, technologically advanced society with modern information and communication systems driving innovation, growth and social progress. The use of Information and communications Technology (ICT) can be a powerful catalyst for development of a sustainable learning society, the building of competitive businesses and improvement of governance and the efficiency of Government. The state enterprise charged with the development of the nation’s Telecommunications Sector is the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT), jointly owned by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and Cable & Wireless. TSTT is the largest telephone and Internet service provider in Trinidad and Tobago and has recently launched into digital television and business and residential security solutions.
- Commissioning of high speed broadband network (in excess of 10 mbps) throughout Trinidad and Tobago
- Migrating mobile customers from 1800 MHz to 1900 MHz network
- Launching of IPTV
- Developing 24 hour customer service
- Deploying a robust network to facilitate Fibre to the Home (FTTH), Fibre to the Node (FTTN), 3G & Winmax network to enhance existing service and the provision of new services, e.g. faster internet connectivity, video conferencing, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV).
